  Peter Hill was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, but has been living and working on the Pine Ridge Reservation for over 15 years. He became fluent in Lakota during his years on the reservation. In 2012, he started the Lakota Immersion Childcare program, then a simple in-home daycare with five children and only one staff member. He continues to work as Language Coordinator for the program, which has grown into the Lakota Language Initiative of Thunder Valley CDC.
