LG 303 Lakota Grammar for Intermediate Level - III

  • Course description (Waúŋspe Oyákapi):

This one credit course builds on LG 103 and LG 203 and provides coverage of Lakota sentence structure at an upper-intermediate level. It focuses on sentences with transportation verbs, change of state, adverbial clauses, nominalization, sentences with “empty” they, passive participle and passive voice, auxiliary verbs and on various multi-verb constructions.

Although the course relies more heavily on instruction in order to cover the extensive material, it also offers a reasonable amount of oral practice so that students can enhance their ability to conjugate verbs in communicative situations.

This course will benefit both second language learners and those native speakers who are current or prospective Lakota language teachers.
